3: Dabbling in Distribution
Suggested deadline: November 21
Oftentimes, people feel overwhelmed or nervous about the technical aspect of getting the podcast out into the world. But it’s actually pretty straightforward! The goal of this week’s exercise is to show you what you can do with the tools freely available here at TRU.
So we’re listened to podcasts, we’ve made a bit of audio… now it’s time to play with the distribution function in WordPress, using a plugin called Seriously Simple Podcasting. (It seriously is really simple.) We have a little video that shows you how it works:
Your task for this week is to take that audio experiment from last week and upload it as if it were being distributed. Our site will create an RSS feed, but we won’t be submitting it to the podcatchers for pick-up.
Important: Use the existing “Test Series” for your podcast following the process in the video above, and we’ll be able to see them all eventually populated in our collective RSS feed for the course. If you make a new series, it’s not the end of the world, but it won’t populate in the feed.
In the Fall 2022 iteration of this course, Week 3 Assignments are due on November 21. You can sign up to join our live discussion of Week 3 by clicking here. And whenever you are accessing this course, we offer support via our Mattermost Team, which you can join by clicking here.
