Hello and welcome.
I’d like to introduce you to the Ludicast, the home of serious Fun. We’re brought to you by Ontario Tech universities Ludic Pedagogy Lab.
I’m your host Rich Little, college instructor and ludic lab fellow.
First and foremost, ludic pedagogy is about fun.
Studies show that fun acts as an intrinsic motivator, resulting in learners spending more time on task and creating greater retention.
But fun is amorphous. Like beauty, fun is in the eye of the beholder. So, we’ll talk about creating inclusive fun by being intentional with its supporting elements of play, playfulness and positivity.
Let’s dig a little deeper into each of those elements.
Play is an action. Engaging in play like games and activities, raises motivation and increases engagement.
Playfulness is an attitude. A playful attitude builds community, lowers stress and helps learners process information.
Positivity increases learning outcomes, and academic performance.
In the Ludicast, we’ll engage in monthly conversations with a diverse group of university and college instructors about the ways they create fun by infusing their lessons with play, playfulness and positivity.
Some episodes will concentrate on one particular element of fun and others will cover all of them in a broad sense.
So, whether you’re an instructor, corporate trainer, or just curious about educational techniques, each episode of the ludicast will give you something to take away and apply to your everyday life. Our website is www.ludic.com.
That’s L.U.D.I.C dot com, where you can subscribe to the podcast comment and find links and other information related to ludic pedagogy.
If you’re a practitioner of fun and would like to help us spread the word you can email us using fun@ludic.com.
Our first episode drops January 10th.
Until then, remember that life is short, so make sure to have some serious fun.

Fun is something I need. So, I’m looking forward to learning more.
This sounds great and I’m ready to hear more by the end.
Bring on the serious fun!
